Defense Minister, Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij:

“No one will be able to break the Syrian army”.

Damascus, August 1, 2013 – SANA – Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces and Minister of Defense, Gen. Fahd Jassem al-Freij, on Thursday extended a salute to the brave members of the Syrian Arab Army, stressing that the Syrian army is fighting terrorism on behalf of the whole world.

“We have been confident from the very beginning in the ability to achieve victory; otherwise Syria would have not held its ground,” said Gen. al-Fraeij in a phone call with the Syrian Television on the 68th anniversary of the foundation of the Syrian Arab Army.

“Syria is not only engaged in a war against terrorism and terrorists, but it is in confrontation with Arab and regional ruling systems and is fighting terrorism on behalf of the entire world,” the Minister said.

He noted that the power of the Syrian army has always been and continues to be the top preoccupation of Syria’s enemies, particularly the Zionist entity that has usurped Palestine, who are seeking to target this army.

He added that the Israeli enemy has tried to stay behind the front seeking to weaken Syria through its agents on the ground who soon started to be vanquished, which promoted a direct aggression by the enemy to help its terrorists to hold their ground.

“Despite all the support and funds, the enemy has failed and its mercenaries have failed too and their dreams were destroyed thanks to our army’s steadfastness,” Gen. al-Freij stressed.

He added that the Syrian army has carried the pan-Arab responsibility on its shoulder for decades and offered a lot of blood and men in defense of its convictions and people, which did not please the enemies “to whom we say: Our army will continue to teach lessons in patriotism, and no one will be able to break it as it will continue to chase the terrorists wherever they are.”

Local and Arab salutations to the Syrian army on its Day

The Palestinian Popular Front in Defense of Syria stressed that the Syrian Arab Army will remain a bright point in the history of Arab armies unlike some of those armies that “have declared allegiance” to the US and Zionism.

In a statement issued on the occasion of the 68th anniversary of the foundation of the Syrian army, the Front hailed the Syrian army’s steadfastness in the face of the imperialist and Zionist plots and its glorified victories over their mercenary and terrorist tools.

“We will celebrate with the Syrian army after it clears the Syrian land, blocks all channels of infiltration across the border and cut off the fingers that tried to break it,” the Front’s statement said.

Secretary General of the Independent Nationalist Coalition in Egypt, Mohammad Sayyid Ahmad, said the Syrian Arab Army is truly the army of Arabism as it has been fighting over two years the fiercest of battles holding firm in the face of the greatest attack any homeland can ever be exposed to in history.

“In its war, the Syrian army is defending not only Syria and its people but the entire Arab Nation, its existence and future,” Sayyid Ahmad said in a statement issued on the occasion of the Syrian Arab Army’s Day.

He hailed the Syrian army for foiling the imperialists plots led by the U.S. and Israel, with the help of their reactionary Arab agents, noting that the Syrian leadership and people have realized from the very beginning that the national army is “the key work” in the fierce war waged against Syria.

Sayyid Ahmad added that the great victories being achieved by the Syrian army have amazed the whole world and put all “powers of evil” in an real dilemma in the face of their peoples.

He continued to say that after the conspiracy targeting the Arab Nation, and at its heart Syria, was exposed, Egypt and the rest of the Arab countries that were deceived by the so-called ” the Arab Spring” have started to regain awareness and come to realize that this spring is a Zionist-U.S. spring.

National Media Council: Syrian army guarantees Syria’s stability and independence

The National Media Council stressed that the Syrian Arab Army is the institution that guarantees Syria’s stability and  independence and that protects its national diversity.

In a statement on the occasion of the Syrian Arab Army’s Day, the Council expressed appreciation of the army which is confronting a universal terrorist war launched against Syria.

The Council hailed the great victories achieved by the army against the terrorist conspiracy, expressing pride in the army’s stances against all powers  of colonialism and hegemony.

Local parties and unions: Syrian army protects homeland

The Syrian National Party and the National Syrian Family Forum expressed solidarity with the Syrian army in the face of Syria’s enemies, considering that the Syrian army is the only guarantor of Syria’s unity.

The teachers and lawyers syndicates, for their parts, issued statements in which they expressed their support to the Syrian army members, who they said will remain the source of the Syrians’ pride, dignity and hope for a promising future.

The General Women’s Union also hailed in a statement the Syrian army’s achievements while defending the homeland, stressing that the Syrian army will remain the model of the ideologized army that believes in its national and pan-Arab cause.

The General Sports Federation said that the Syrian army is protecting the homeland and the Syrian people amid a global conspiracy and at a time when plotters are being divulged.

In a statement on the occasion of the Army Day, the union said that the Syrian army is fighting in a battle which is to determine the fate of the Syrian people and Arab nation, and ”is determined more than ever to strike terrorism with an ironclad fist until bringing back security and stability all over Syria.”

The statement stressed support to the Syrian army in its battle against terrorism, pledging allegiance to the homeland against suspicious schemes until achieving the hoped-for victory.

In the same context, the executive bureau of the General Sports Federation offered symbolic gifts and souvenirs to injured army personnel in several military hospitals who were targeted by armed terrorist groups while in the line of duty.

The Union branches in governorates visited martyrs’ tombs and laid wreathes, also visiting military personnel in their units and checkpoints.

Head of the General Sports Federation, Mowaffaq Jom’aa said that visiting the army personnel on the Army Day is a national duty stemming from the awareness of the volume of conspiracy targeting Syria’s national stances.

Syrian army…honorable history, great sacrifices.

Throughout history, the Syrian army has epitomized national unity and values, and offered the dearest of sacrifices for protecting the homeland.
